Know the WYD

1. What is World Youth Day (WYD)?
WYD is a celebration organized by the Catholic Church and it unites young people from more than 150 countries. It is characterized by the joy that young people bring for being together. During WYD 2019, participants can exchange experiences and learn from one another.
2. When will WYD take place?
WYD Panama 2019 will take place from January 22 to 27, 2019.
3. Can non-Catholic people participate?
WYD is not only an encounter for Catholics, any interested person can participate. It does not matter what your religion, race, gender or social class is, everyone has the opportunity to share this experience of faith and hope.
4. What does the International Relations Team (IRT) do and what kind of consultations do they provide?
It provides the delegations all kinds of information related to the organization of World Youth Day 2019 and whatever is required by the interested parties for their planning, coordination, and participation in WYD Panama 2019.
5. What other information does the International Relations Team provide?
It offers information on the Departments of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) with a greater focus on logistics, registration and hospitality, communications, Days in the Dioceses, pastoral work and artistic expressions. Additionally, it provides information on facilities offered by the country, with respect to the logistics required by each delegation, such as hotels, transportation and insurance, among others.
6. What does an advanced visit mean?
These are visits requested by the international delegations to learn about the country, its people, its customs, its organization and how the arrangements for WYD are advancing, so that they can evaluate and consider them in planning their participation.
