Message from the Archbishop of Panama City on International Youth DayAugust 12, 2018
Panama City, August 3rd, 2018.
Costa Rica is celebrating the feast of its patron saint and protector of the Americas, la Virgen de los Angeles.
Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, Archbishop of Panama, was present with their sister church in the city of Cartago to celebrate the festivities for their patron saint.
Monsignor Ulloa Mendieta was given the honor of donning the image of the Virgin, a tradition that takes place in the plaza of the Basilica named in honor of the Virgin.
During his visit, the Archbishop took the opportunity to invite Costa Ricans to participate in World Youth Day Panama 2019, to encounter Jesus and the youth, hand in hand with Mary, so that like her, without fear we can say… “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”
“Dear brothers and sisters, you are welcome in Panama for this unique journey from the 22nd to the 27th of January, a unique Central American WYD, which the Pope has wanted to host in our region, so that our young people, especially those who have never dreamed of participating in a WYD, can do so in Panama.”
Costa Rica will be a host for the Days in the Dioceses for WYD Panama 2019.
