During the first five hours after the registration of Pope Francis as the first pilgrim of World Youth Day, internet users from over 77 countries accessed the official web page (www.panama2019.pa ) to get informed about the registration process.
According to the heads of the social networks of WYD Panama 2019, in the first 15 minutes after the registration of the Holy Father, internet users from 126 cities in Italy accessed the official web page.
Italy is precisely the country that tops the list among the ten countries with more access to the Panamanian web page. The other nine countries are: Panama, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Peru, Nicaragua and Brazil.
65% of the people who had connected were women, according to what the webmasters of WYD Panama 2019 informed. In addition, they said that more than 646 internet providers of the whole world accessed the platforms.
They also highlighted that 84% of the internet users got connected to the official web page by cellphones and tablets, and the rest got in by a normal computer.
The social network that had more traffic was Facebook. Moreover, Youtube had more than half million views during the five first hours.
His Holiness, Pope Francis, signed-up as the first pilgrim of World Youth Day Panama 2019, causing surprise to everyone and so opened the registration process of the worldwide event.
After praying the Angelus from his balcony in St. Peter’s Square, the Holy Father filled out his personal information and officially registered through the online portal, continuing the tradition from the previous WYD.
Registration for pilgrims from all over the world will be open as of 8:00 am (Panama time) on February 12th, 2018, according to information provided by Victor Chang, Executive Secretary of the LOC.
Detailed instructions for the registration process will be in the five official languages of WYD, although there is no online portal in Portuguese.
