“Have pity on us”

The Gospel according to Matthew 9:27-31

Lectio: What does the text say?

As Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying out, “Son of David, have pity on us!”
When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” the said to him.
Then he touched their eyes and said, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.”

Meditatio: What is God saying to me through the text?

Do I follow Jesus with faith like these blind men? In my blindness, my problems, my weaknesses, my difficulties, do I ask him to have pity on me? What would I say to Jesus if he asked me this today: “Do you believe that I can do this?” Am I sure and convinced that Jesus Christ is the only true and eternal way and I can only trust in him?
After the message of this text, what is your meditation, your personal reflection?

Oratio: What do I say to God?

Be present with us because without, we cannot do anything and we are lost. Have pity on our efforts to get close to you, to do what we need to carry out your message and will. You invite us to follow you. Help us please…
Don’t leave me without hope, Lord. Allow me to breathe confidently… Give me a glimpse of the light from the abyss. Teach me to seek you and show you when I search for you because I cannot seek you if you don’t guide me, nor find you if you do not show yourself, especially if I am lost. I will seek you because I desire and I will desire you by seeking you. I will find you by loving you and I will love you when I have found you.
After the message of this text, what is your personal prayer? Include your intentions.
Amen

Surely everyone is going through difficult situations because of blindness, whether it be us or someone close to us or those we don’t know, and there’s no way out. Take a moment and ask the Lord, “Have pity on us.”
