“Repent”
The Gospel according to Matthew 4:12-17,23-25
Lectio: What does the text say?
The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.
From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
He went all around Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people. After this text, what are the words, phrases, or actions that draw your attention, your interest?
Meditation: What does God say to you in the text?
It’s clear that the great light is Jesus Christ. Do I put all my faith in this great light? Am I truly repentant? What habits or actions are those that a repentant person should have? Following the example of Jesus Christ, what is the Galilee that I should go through and proclaim the Gospel? My home? My community? My group? My movement? My parish? My work? Hospitals, old folks homes, prisons, and other places? After the message of this text, what is your meditation, your personal reflection?
Oration: What do I say to God?
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the great light that I follow and that I want to follow, to put all my faith in you, to be truly repentant, and proclaim and put the Gospel into action in my Galilee, starting with myself, my family, my brothers and sisters, all those in need, and where the Holy Spirit wants to bring me. I want to be your instrument.
