“Wisdom is vindicated by her works”

The Gospel according to Matthew 11:16-19.

Lectio: What does the text say?

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said, ‘He is possessed by a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is vindicated by her works.

Meditatio: What is God saying to you through the text?

This text shows how many times, other people and ourselves, because of different points of view and personal interests, we criticize or speak against or in favor and they don’t accept or we accept works or actions that are good, reasonable, just, and wise. Before good works, how do I form opinions, with criticism, with convenience, or justly? And before bad actions, how do I form opinions, tolerant, seek to dialogue, to bring them to justice? How do I act before whatever circumstance or situation, according to just or to my convenience?

Oratio: What do we say to God?

My God, give me the peace to judge justly with wisdom and when it’s not done, to accept my mistake with all humility and return to the way of good actions. I also ask that you help me to be tolerant, to always be open to dialogue to be able to help so that everyone together can do good works, that all actions, attitudes, and words be just and not only for my comfort.
